You can find the Altona Book Hall in the middle of the shopping centre on the second floor.
Here, you can borrow books, magazines, CD’s and DVD’swhich interest you. Children and young peoplecan search for non-fiction books which are suitable for their age, stories, child DVD’s, CD ROMS and audio books. Adultscan find a large range of engagingliterature, from the classic to fantasy novels, as well as foreign language books in Turkish, English, French and Spanish. We also provide daily and weekly newspapersas well as approximately 70 magazine subscriptions from the areas of home and hobby, family and leisure time, computers, music and film, art and culture and politics/economy.
The non-fiction areaprovides detailed information about all areas of knowledge and provided many books for school, training and professional development, as well as university studies. Current advice literature, for example from the areas of law and medicine and several medias concerning how to organise leisure timesuch as cooking, travel and sport complement our comprehensive range for everybody.
As far as the music CD’s are concerned, the Altona Book Hall is a leader. The collection is the largest of all the municipal libraries in Hamburg. Jazz, new music, world music and pop are the hits here. Our media are available to you free of charge in the rooms of the book halls and you do not need to register. In order to borrow items, you need a customer card which you can easily obtain from us. Please bring you personal identity document or passport with confirmation of registration.
