The Body Shop – the company with a difference

The Body Shop makes high quality products for the skin and hair on a natural basis. A key cornerstone of The Body Shop is its environmentally orientated company management.

One of the principles of The Body Shop is that the cosmetic items are not tested on animals and that we actively protest against animal experimentation in the cosmetics industry. We do not use unnecessary packaging, virtually all bottles can be refilled and containers which are no longer needed can be handed over in the shop for recycling. In addition, The Body Shop programme supports fair trade with communities and groups in need, for example with the high quality cocoa butter. Motto of the campaign: “Cocoa butter is good for you – not just for the skin”. Other current leaders are the olive herb butter: ideal for normal to dry skin, as it can easily be rubbed in and provides care with high quality contents, without becoming fat; the nut body butter for dry skin, the mango body butter for very dry skin.

Hemp products are also used for caring for dry skin. This product line is not an “advert for drugs” as The Body Shop explains. The oil produced from hemp seeds is the basis for highly effective care products, which has a particularly high concentration of fats. Investigations have shown that the application leads to a strong improvement to the skin picture.

The company, which was formed by Anita Rodick in Brighton, England in 1976 has around 1650 shops in 48 countries today, of which 71 are in Germany. The Body Shop in the Mercado is the sixth store in Hamburg. Mr van der Heide and his team would be happy to provide advice!
